NSW Government COVID-19 Financial Support for Individuals

COVID-19 Disaster Paymeent

Have you or your family been highly affected by COVID-19? You might be eligible for the NSW Government’s COVID-19 financial support payments for individuals.

If you suffer income losses due to COVID-19 restrictions, you might be eligible for the COVID-19 Disaster Payment of

      •  $600 if a person has lost 20 or more hours of work a week

     •  $375 if a person has lost 8-20 hours of work a week.

You may be eligible to get the COVID-19 Disaster Payment if:

     •  You live, work or have visited a COVID-19 hotspot, lockdown or period of restricted movement.

     •  You cannot attend work because you were in a COVID-19 hotspot and subject to restricted movement whilst having paid employment.

     •  You don’t have appropriate paid leave entitlements

     •  You aren’t receiving any income support payment, pandemic leave disaster payment or a state pandemic payment.

Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment

You may be eligible to get the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment if:

     •  You have been told to quarantine or isolate due to being a close contact of a confirmed case

     •  You are caring for someone with COVID-19

Crisis Payment

If you are in severe financial hardship, you may be eligible for:

     •  Crisis Payment

     •  Crisis Payment for National Health Emergency

Other financial support

If you need longer term financial help, you may be eligible for various income support payments such as:

     •  JobSeeker Payment if you are 22 years old and older currently looking for work

     •  Youth Allowance if you are 24 years old or younger looking for work

     •  Parenting Payment if you are a job seeker with young children

     •  Family tax benefit if you are caring for a child

     •  Special benefit if you are not eligible for any other income support payment

Fine Reduction

The NSW Government has also introduced a 50% fine reduction. To be eligible you must:

      •  Be on government benefits at the time of fine issuing

     •  Apply for a fine reduction through Revenue NSW before the fine is overdue
